Captain Rooba here... I spoke to Will on the phone, and he's doing well but getting sick of the sand and sun. No clue as to when he'll have computer access again. He asked me to tell everyone that his birthday is on Sunday, April 27th. He asked that you all give a big hoot and holler and slam a cold one for him. Happy Birthday Will! 11:46 AM

Hey Will - Happy Birthday. Sorry I missed your call last night, I was home, but couldn't find the damn phone so I just ran around the house like a fool frantically looking for it as you left your voice mail. Well, there will be No girls' beach weekend here in Omaha, especially since there is no beach but I hear the Razzle Dazzle has half price drinks on Saturday. Hot chicks in thongs and beer equals fun. It's going to be a boobs and booze fest, wish you could join us. We will probably head over there after we close down the bars in Omaha. That's when the skanky chicks at the Razzle look thier best...after a loooooonnnnggggg night of drinking, ha! Be safe and see you soon! -D- Posted by: Donovan on April 23, 2003 03:40 PMHey Will! Happy Birthday. In honor of your birthday, I decided to host a "mullet run" (see salmon with extra long tails). I hung up big posters in every laundry mat in WI advertising a car show for 1968 Camaros complete with door prizes of leather wallets attached to large chains. The posters, of course, were decorated with a picture of a scissors with an X through it. Beverage of choice naturally will be large kegs of foaming Pabst - will be happy to hoist a glass of 3/4 foam, 1/4 beer in your honor. The men and their wives are so excited about this major happening that I hear they are planning to make this an annual event .....something about Uncle Cletus' pig farm...and wrench throwing contests .... Posted by: Lorrie V. on April 23, 2003 04:29 PMHi Will, Happy birthday! Hope you have a good one. My husband and I are drinking a nice Merlot in your honor! :) Keep off them cigs! Will continue to pray for you and the rest of the troops. Hang in there. You are a very gifted writer. That's rare. Take care. Geeeeeez, we can put a man on the moon but we can't get this guy a lap-top and a brewsky!! Happy birthday anyway! Stay safe. Karen Will sweetie- you know we will be hoisting a pint of Guinness for ya that night (or two, or three). Actually it's the Cinco de Mayo mini-tour (yeah, you know where we are going now don't ya?) so we will probably be hoisting some Tecate, Pacifico and Coronas. Stay safe my friend - miss you!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WILLY BOY!!!! Posted by: Gidgiwe on April 23, 2003 10:50 PMCiao Will, Resist! You'll be back soon.. Posted by: Luana on April 24, 2003 01:14 AMDear Will: I'm sorry you have to spend your birthday away from your family (Mom, Dad, etc.), but you won't be spending it alone since you have your buddies there and all of us here to help you celebrate. Milena Adriana,Ilaria Posted by: Milena,Adriana,Ilaria on April 27, 2003 04:36 PMHappy Birthday Handsome Will! I imagine the best birthday gift of all, now that you all have nearly gotten the job done, is for you to come on home for some well deserved R&R and TLC. Many people are celebrating on your behalf today and may be late to work as a result tomorrow. Wherever you may be, I hope they are hazing the hell outta the birthday boy and bestowing upon him gifts of TP, booze and cigs (and a stripper would be nice.) Keep up the amazing, good work and you will join the ranks of the other greats born on this date: Samuel F.B. Morse (Morse Code inventor,) Ulysses S. Grant, Walter Lantz (creator of Woody the Woodpecker,) and your favorite and mine Casey Kasem! Many Happy Returns! SzaffireBlue Hey, Will, happy birthday (albeit a wee bit belated)! Who's Will Anyway?
What's All This Then?
As most of the regular readers of Rooba.net know, I have a few friends that have been sent or called up for the soon-to-be-conflict in Iraq. One such friend is Will aka Will not weasel or Will from Omaha or whatever other moniker he's using on my site that day.
Will is a pretty good writer and this is the collection of his writings. It'll be interesting to hear updates from a soldier's point of view, so I'll be posting them for all to read. Take care Will ~Captain Rooba
