The next strangest thing....
Hello All, Remember when I said, I wonder what will happen next? Maybe pigs will fly!" Well oinkers aren't soaring, but this morning we have FOG. You know that I'm not a morning person, but this shook me awake. It's kinda creepy how the moisture holds in all the sound and figures just emerge from the gray haze, and I'm really liking it. It hasn't gotten muggy, yet, so right now I'm going for a walk and enjoy the coolness (on more than one level) of the morning. I love you all, Will 10:17 AM

Remember your not alone, your always in our hearts and our prayers. debby Posted by: debby on August 11, 2003 10:47 AMCan't wait to hear when you're getting back home Will, I have been observing the overall tone in your posts and it has slowly gone a little down hill.......I hope things wrap up for you soon. Take care. Posted by: Ryan from Canada eh? on August 11, 2003 11:03 AMEnjoy that spooky fog Will... we actually got that from time to time even here in Tucson and it IS funky...but very interesting. Driving sucks in it though. Well, I'm off to take my son to the zoo...tomorrow school starts again, so until next I write/respond/vent, take care and I hope you enjoy your walk. Judi Posted by: Judi on August 11, 2003 11:10 AMWill & J What will happen next? Maybe pigs will fly to the other man! We get that all the time here in S. Cal. Glad it's given you a touch of cool air. Enjoy! Posted by: Chris on August 11, 2003 12:45 PMGlad to hear you've caught a break on the weather (if only for a few minutes, anyway). Can't wait till you and your's can come home. And, by the way, THANK YOU for the excellent job that you're doing over there in the sandbox. We really do appreciate it. Remember, 99% (if not more) of the media is crapola. We support you 150% !! Posted by: Julie on August 11, 2003 12:54 PMWill- I know you are busy beyond belief but if you are not too shy and have access to phone you can go to audblog.com and post a free audio message to your blog. Just for the halibut. Posted by: SzaffireBlue on August 11, 2003 03:22 PMWill For me, the fog tends to soften everything around the edges - sort of a quieting filter. I love to drive country roads in that soupy stuff - and it brings the smell of the earth with it as well! Hope it brings some of that to you as well as relief from the heat. Keep your chin up - maybe think of this as one of those character building times in your life (tho it sounds like you're quite the character as it is! lol) Take care and know that support is ever present for you and the rest of the troops - we may not be as vocal but we are here solidly behind you! Posted by: LV on August 12, 2003 06:52 AMHi Will, hope you die. Posted by: obelo on August 13, 2003 01:24 PMWill, the oinkers were probably grounded due to bad visibility. :) If you do see them soaring, just don't look up too long! Hope things stay cool there, in all respects. PS. Looks like some of that fog settled into other empty cavities... Posted by: Kathy on August 13, 2003 04:35 PMWill-You and all of the Americans that are over there are in our prayers and thoughts. I hope you all come home safe and soon. Thanks for keeping us posted on some of the interesting things going over there. Enjoy the not so sweltering hot weather for as long as it lasts. Posted by: Jamie on August 15, 2003 02:31 AMI was just told about this site and it's great. I can't wait until a book comes out. Reading your "stories" has me laughing because they are soooo true. I've shared some of them with the soldiers in my Reserve unit. Hopefully, we can all go home soon. Send the fog north. We got the humidity but no fog. Maybe they would cancel pt if we got fog. Then again, maybe not. Posted by: Terri on August 15, 2003 02:48 AMchris, our fog was not socal fog. it was 90+ degree fog. More like a steamroom. Posted by: Kevin on August 17, 2003 03:54 PMwhen i lived in york township years ago, the fog used to layer my back yard..... sometimes deer had hopped the fence to sleep out there for the night and i'd see them moving around quietly at 4;30 am when i got up to get ready for work... i sit in the kitchen, sipping coffee, awed by the silence and nature.... where i live now, fog rarely happens and when it does it's not so far as pretty ... probably because it holds the smoke against the ground from my idiot neighbors who burn trash, fireplaces and wood stoves in the midst of summer heat. go figure... but glad you have some of this stuff there. a friend in israel tells me it's humid there right now... hope it cools down for you all soon. Who's Will Anyway?
What's All This Then?
As most of the regular readers of Rooba.net know, I have a few friends that have been sent or called up for the soon-to-be-conflict in Iraq. One such friend is Will aka Will not weasel or Will from Omaha or whatever other moniker he's using on my site that day.
Will is a pretty good writer and this is the collection of his writings. It'll be interesting to hear updates from a soldier's point of view, so I'll be posting them for all to read. Take care Will ~Captain Rooba
